Nick Jones recently and memorably stated ‘I’ll never win a PGS trophy.’ He’s certainly no Mystic Meg, going on to win the Lord Riddell Memorial Trophy by three shots at Worplesdon!
Playing off 17, his net 68 claimed the trophy and Division 2, from James Saville (net 71 off 20) who beat Ian Woods (net 71 off 17) on count-back.
Lowest gross was Andy Porter, nett 71 off 7 (gross 78) and he took Division 1. Second in the division was Khalid Javed (net 71 off 10) and third was Steve Lewis (net 72 off 9).
On a day of generally low Stableford scores, possibly because of the beautifully presented but tricky greens, the top scoring 16 players qualified for the Emsley Carr – to see the full draw, click here.
Jonesy’s victory was not the only historic moment of the day with the President of the PGS changing. Incoming PGS President, Peter Dazeley BEM, was handed his chain of office by departing President, Philippa Kennedy.
