Cherrie back to defend
Reigning Sir Emsley Carr champion Nick Cherrie won through to defend his title after the Worplesdon medal round. He will face Colin Hancock in this year’s first round, which features several tasty ties.
Pick of the bunch could be the Mannings Heath showdown between last year’s captain Tony Smith and new boy Adam Piggott, who has won two of his first three PGS meetings!
First round ties must be played by Friday, May 2; quarter-finals by Friday, June 20; semi-finals by Friday, August 1 and the final is booked for West Hill on Wednesday, September 10.
Our rules state: ‘Any Member who fails to fulfil his or her commitment to play a tie by the date fixed by the Secretary, will concede the match, and be ineligible for consideration for the Wryter Cup team that season (even if they have qualified by other means) and will also be ineligible to compete in the following year’s Emsley Carr knockout competition.’
